Well, having awoken this morning with a monster hangover and swimming has been done I think it is time to do one more blog from the war weekend, with a mix of people and things....

This fella is representing the 'Filthy Thirteen' from the 506th PIR in the 101st Airborne Division who were the Demolition Section of the division......yep, WWII history fanatic, for which I make no apologies!!

Ahaha a short history lesson, the 6th Airborne were the first division in action on DDay to take Pegasus Bridge in Normandy, heroic actions by heroic men...there have been many many words written over DDay but I cannot emphasis enough how important the actions of this division were on DDay and subsequent days thereafter.....

Lytham War Weekend 1

So, the other day i heard about another WWII weekend happening, following on from my visit to the one at Ramsbottom (see earlier posts!!!) This one was in Lytham, aka Lytham St Annes, really beautiful part of the world, lovely seaside town and well suited to host a war time weekend.

So in this post (yes, you guessed it, there will be many) I shall start with the people...these people spend their time dressing up in period costume and re-enacting times gone by...and I so want to join them....

So on with the pictures...

So, there was my first post, there will be many more from this fantastic weekend

Newquay baby!!

So during the tour I went over to Newquay, popular place, but, bit over hyped if you ask me.  However, on the way there, at the end of Newquay Airport runway I spotted these in someones garden....quite possibly the best lawn ornaments I have ever seen....you can keep your gnomes, I want one of these!!!

Donations were made to the Spitfire fund, I am now starting my own, so all donations are gratefully received!!

So after this brief stop a quick drive down the road took us into Newquay itself and then down to the beach....

I should point out that at this point I was that busy concentrating on getting some pictures that i didnt notice the tide was coming in....and subsequently got very wet feet....i was happy, not
